Hello Chris,

It's been a little while since our last correspondence but I'm here now to let you know just how ecstatic I am with this new datsun of mine. These carbs really haul the freight! I was getting somewhat frustrated toward the middle of this venture but I'm glad I stuck it out. Now that the jetting is pretty dialed in, it's just incredible how these mikunis have transformed this roadster. And the symphony of all four barrels kicking in sync, it's priceless. Like you mentioned, their is a little driver intervention needed such as blipping the throttle every so often to clear the sticky slides, but I'm so used to the extra power now that I'll never be able to go back to SU's. I can see now why you would never ever mess with the DCOE's and PHH's carbs. These things are awesome! The simplicity of it all is just super, not having to fabricate a linkage (at carb) and the suspension of the carbs off the hoses. One thing additional that I did to mine was add a brace from the head cover to the bellcrank to help aid in suspending the carbs. Kind of a limit for carb travel downward. I only have my butt dyno to rely on but what a difference. Now I need more cam! to reap all the benifits of these babys! Guess you can tell I'm a little excited. Thanks, for taking on this project! I'm a very happy camper.

On an evening in the Summer of 1984 Chris like so many times before worked late into the night at his then Los Angeles based sport bike shop, but this time he wasn't working on his Super Bike. This particular evening he was installing a quad set of these carburetors on a his 1972 Spitfire1300. After installing these carburetors on literally every different make and size Sport bike Chris had earned a nation wide reputation with them making bikes really fly.  But the Spitfire installation would be a different venture all together. Defying critics, and even the engineers at Mikuni and Keihin Chris pressed on and six weeks later developed the combination that worked perfectly throughout the Spitfire's entire rpm spectrum. Using the Spitfire as his daily driver he continued to develop and test the system for a whole year while driving through every condition L.A. has to offer in traffic and weather. From freeway rush hour in 90 degree heat to blasting up Angeles Crest hwy with it's 6500 foot altitude in the dead of Winter. His kit's year long testing phase put 32,000 hard miles on the little MK IV. The results were so impressive Chris never again considered Weber's DCOE as a performance option. The Keihins are half the weight, tune easier and with greater precision, make way more power, and get better gas mileage. What could possibly be better? Absolutely nothing!

Derived from the world famous Lucas sliding door injection which helped Jaguar dominate the racing world. Lucas engineers found a flat slide to have two great advantages over the typical round piston  air valve and butterfly style throttle plates. One is that it atomizes the fuel much better,  the second is it creates much greater vacuum in the manifold during 1/4 to 3/4 throttle openings. What this means is the charge is forced into the cylinders at greater speed (higher port velocity) while the finer atomized fuel particles ignite quicker and burn more complete aiding efficiency. These two features will  allow leaner jetting when accompanied by a high performance ignition system such as MSD or Mallory High Fire. The end result is great power and better fuel economy, something that usually isn't phrased together.  These flat slide carburetors work in the very same manor and incorporate an accelerator pump jet for instant throttle response. PRI has these carburetors bolting right to your existing intake manifold with their fully developed "pre-assembled" and "pre-jetted" kits for Triumph Spitfire, GT6, TR6 and TR250. Less costly than our Quad or Six-Pack Keihin sets these kits will strongly increase throttle response and torque right from idle over the Stromberg.
